Jorge Aguilar, MD PhD is a mental performance coach and board-certified psychiatrist with expertise in sports psychiatry. He provides therapy and mental skills training to elite athletes in collegiate and professional sports. He is the team psychiatrist to NYCFC in Major League Soccer and serves as a consultant to MLB on mental health and mental performance. Jorge also participates in the MLB Rookie Career Development Program as a resource doctor for minor league players coming into the league. He employs evidence-based talk therapy and mindfulness practices to help athletes pursue greater purpose, effectiveness, resilience, and enjoyment in their sport and daily life.
Jorge grew up in the Bronx, New York, and was a multi-sport varsity athlete and team captain in high school, and a year-round NCAA Cross Country and Track & Field athlete in college. He also has experience coaching at the team level and was the head coach of the 2009 Harlem Little League World Series team. In his free time, he enjoys training for marathons, mentoring inner city youth, and being with his family and 2 dogs.
